Inside the halls in the Ubisoft headquarter at Montreuil in France, there are many creative resources. Resources whom developed amazing games though times like Prince of Persia, Assassin’s Creed and Ghost Recon, just to mention a few.
Now the same resources have developed Babel Rising 3D, an amazing title for a game.
So caught up in former times glory and quality, I decided to download their new title on my iPad, started the game and the BOOOM! Was it more than I ever expected or was I disappointed ?
The games takes it stories and graphics from the bible, and at first sight it looks rather great. Babel Rising 3D presents almost near console quality 3D visuals with very suitable soundtracks. The touch controls takes time to master – and only the combination of good luck and crazy tapping on the iPad screen lead to success in the first 2 levels.
Over 15 levels of increasing difficulty, the gameplay is, in all it’s simplicity, to play God and firing lightning bolts and drag out walls of flames against the persistent humans to prevent them from build their constructions, while you turn from creator to destroyer by playing God.
The game action feels very tame, unrewarding and sets you back in a feelingless mindset.
So, am I disappointed? Compared with Ubisofts game story, I had expected more. The gameplay and sounds ends up being annoying, and the tactics have to be masted to perfection, this just isn’t the game I want to play that long at a time, to become a master of tactics. Of course the game will appeal for some gamers, but I think for the general public the prays have not been heard yet. For that i’m sorry.
My judgement for the overall game, and only be course it’s a really good story concept with excellent graphics, is 3 stars.
